Hello new stove! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Melissa, and you are my new BFF! Hello Granite counter tops! What can I say? I heart you forever! (or at least until my lease ends)Our big news of the week is that we are moving!
We found out last weekend that our landlord has found someone to move in on the 1st of November, so out we must go! We immediately went to our dream location to see if by some miracle it was still available...and it wasn't! There was another identical (they said) condo in another building which would have been even dreamier because it had a water view except for one major problem...it has parquet floors! (yucky, yucky, ewww, ewww, ewww) After much persuasion from the housing lady, and my husband, we took the slightly less dreamy condo with the water view, and I made my husband swear on the Steelers I could have an unlimited rug budget! Get a steamin' plate of meatballs and a tall glass of ligonberry juice ready, 'cause here I come Ikea! I will e-mail y'all pictures and details about exactly where this place is (pretty awesome!).
Tara I put a music thingy on the sidebar with some of whats on my I-pod...a little banana phone anyone?
In other big news- I found a kettle corn recipe!
We made the stuff and it was not only unbelievably easy, but super dooper cheap! Now I feel like a major chump for shelling out all that cash at the Sunday market! I have to say that it is not quite as yummy Delicious as the Astoria sort, but for like .25 a bag instead of 8.00, who cares?
Here is the recipe-
Kettle Corn
1/2 unpopped popcorn kernels
1/4 cup oil
1/4 cup sugar
Salt to taste
put the oil in the bottom of a heavy and large saucepan, put the heat somewhere in between medium and high. Drop three popcorn kernels in the pan, when they pop add the rest of the kernels and the sugar at the same time. Cover the pot, and commence the shakey shake! Shake the pot constantly ( about every 5 seconds lift it off the heat a bit while still shaking to prevent the sugar from burning from the direct heat). When all of the popcorn has popped (or when your arms feel like they are going to fall off) sprinkle with salt and give it a stir. Yum!
We used 1tsp. of salt, but I would use maybe 3/4tsp. next time.
O.k so as I am typing this Dean Martin is singing me Mambo Italiano from the music thingy- and now I want to go make spaghetti sauce!
Its a rainy cold day and my kids have a brand new Scooby Doo movie! That means Jammies for all, and I actually may get through a few chapters of my book!
